Love Garden Granny Afghan Block
It’s almost the end of the year and Moogly’s 2014 afghan block challenge is coming to an end. I cannot wait to see all the finished afghans!! All these beautiful 12″ afghan blocks, IΒ thought I’d jump on board and make my own. I knew I wanted to use theΒ Flower Bud Granny OctagonΒ and the Serendipity Hearts. Β That was the easy part! Then it became a challenge, I needed to turn something round into something square with only so many inches to work with. I must have heard some frogs “rip-it, rip-it” a handful of times getting the sweet hearts to work but I kept on tryingΒ and thus the Love Garden Granny Afghan BlockΒ was made.
I am so pleased with how my first afghan block turned out. It may be the only block for a long time. Making a block wasΒ quite the challenge and I think I’m happier sticking to making what I love, bonnets!
I just can’t wait to share this block!! Between the kids being home sick and myself I haven’t been able to work up a video tutorial and my block needs some work. Don’t worry it will be available ASAP! *UPDATE: the chart pattern is NOW available, scroll all the way down to get it!

Blocking..
I pinned the block to my ironing board, placed a cloth over it. Using my iron set to cotton, steamed around the edging of the block avoiding the center flowers as they are not to be flattened.
This pattern is free to view on my blog, a PDF of the pattern can be purchased on Ravelry.

DearestDebi says
There is a written pattern and chart available to download above. There’s 2 pink download arrows, make sure that just below the first arrow is where you download to get the written copy.
Martha says
Can’t download pattern…undefined….what’s this….
Why do I have to subscribe every time I want a pattern…..
DearestDebi says
Pattern downloads are currently unavailable, I am working at resolving the issue as fast as I can.
Subscribing is so that a download link can be sent to your email. Being as patterns are free this is the only option I can do or I could start charging $ so you can log in and download without subscribing.
Robbie says
I just subscribed and can’t get the pattern. Says the link has expired.
DearestDebi says
Please get a new link. Make sure you do not have a pop-up blocker on and/or you approve the download.

Can you please, pretty please help? I have tried everything to download the love triangle scarf, and the love garden granny square and nothing. It cuts off about half way!
Lois L. says
Is a written pattern available for the Love Garden Granny?
Debbie says
I downloaded it but it is not a written pattern, it is a chart. Do you have a written pattern? Also you say to see your blog for a photo tutorial but I can’t find any way to get to that as every “clicky” you have is just for an add. How do we get to your blog?
DearestDebi says
In the post above there are 2 downloads for this pattern, look for the 1st pink download arrow to get the written pattern. All photo help will also be on the blog post above.
Debbie says
Aha! Got it, just had downloaded under the second arrow rather than the first. Thanks so much for sharing..and it is now pinned again π
