Welcome to my Garden Romp Crochet Along 2017 Part 9!

We’re into the clouds! Before getting started make sure to figure out what colours you would like to use. The video tutorial skips ahead a little bit into part 10 so you have 2 weeks to work up this section of clouds.

You will notice that I worked small puffs for my clouds on my 2nd piece to save on time and yarn. There’s instructions included below and in the video about the difference.

Before getting started..

For all odd round starting 58 through 72 I worked sm-puffs instead of puffs (In the corners I used a puff instead of lg-puffs) than the pattern calls for. I did this to save time making the piece so I could get it done faster and also this can be done to save on the amount of yarn being used. This is why my grey puffs in my images may appear to be smaller.

Carrying up the yarn..

When I was designing I wasn’t sure what I was planning on doing so the pattern instructs to fasten off after each puff rounds. Since I alternated colours for my uneven rounds I was not able to carry up the yarn. To carry up the rounds with puffs I worked a ch2 and then worked my puff in the stitch I was lined up with, this will offset your stitches every row you work in the pattern instructions.

Note: For the next round on my original piece I used Red Heart With Love Metallic so it sparkled like the pearly gates.

Rnd 56: for this round stitches are worked in skipped stitches from rnd 53 (push rnd 54 & 55 to the back out of the way), insert hook into tr to the left of a ch2 sp, draw up AC13, ch 6 (counts as beg tr & ch 2), tr in sk st to left of next sm-puff-vst, (ch 2, tr in sk st to left of next sm-puff-vst) 33 times, ch 2, tr in ch2 sp, ch 5, [ tr in tr to left of corner-puff-vst, (ch 2, tr in sk st to left of next sm-puff-vst) 34 times, ch 2, tr in ch2 sp, ch 5 ] 3 times, join with sl st to beg tr making sure to work st in ch3 sp from rnd 55. (144 tr, 140 ch2 sps, 4 ch5 sps)

Rnd 57: ch 1, sc in same tr as beg ch1, (sc in ch2 sp, sc same ch2 sp working st in center of hdc-pop from rnd 55, sc in next tr working st in ch3 sp from rnd 55) 35 times, 2 sc in ch5 sp from rnd 56 and 55, sc-vst in ch5 sp and top of 5-hdc-pop from rnd 55, 2 sc in same ch5 and next ch5 sp from rnd 55, [ sc in next tr, (sc in ch2 sp, sc same ch2 sp working st in center of hdc-pop from rnd 55, sc in next tr working st in ch3 sp from rnd 55) 35 times, 2 sc in ch5 sp from rnd 56 and 55, sc-vst in ch5 sp and top of 5-hdc-pop from rnd 55, 2 sc in same ch5 and next ch5 sp from rnd 55 ] 3 times, join with sl st to beg sc. (448 sc, 4 ch)

Note: For the next round I switched back to Red Heart Super Saver.

Rnd 58: ch 1, puff in next sc, (ch 1, sk next sc, puff in next sc) 53 times, ch 1, sk next sc, lg-puff in ch1 sp, ch 2, lg-puff in same ch1 sp, [ ch 1, sk next 2 sc, puff in next sc, (ch 1, sk next sc, puff in next sc) 54 times, ch 1, sk next sc, lg-puff in ch1 sp, ch 2, lg-puff in same ch1 sp ] 3 times, ch 1, sk next 2 sc, puff in next sc, ch 1, join with sl st to beg puff, fasten off AC13. (220 puff, 8 lg-puff, 224 ch1 sps, 4 ch2 sps)

Rnd 59: insert hook into ch1 sp to the left of a corner lg-puff, draw up MC, sc in same ch1 sp, (ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp) 55 times, ch 1, sc-vst in ch2 sp, [ (ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp) 56 times, ch 1, sc-vst in ch2 sp ] 3 times, ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp, ch 1, join with sl st to beg sc, fasten off MC. (224 sc, 228 ch, 4 sc-vsts)

Rnd 60: insert hook in ch1 sp to left of sc-vst, draw up AC13, ch 1, puff in same ch1 sp, (ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp) 56 times, ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp, ch 2, puff in same ch1 sp, [ (ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp) 57 times, ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp, ch 2, puff in same ch1 sp ] 3 times, ch 1, join with sl st to beg puff, fasten off AC13. (236 puff, 232 ch, 4 ch2 sps)

Rnd 61: insert hook into ch1 sp to the left of a corner ch2 sp, draw up AC12, sc in same ch1 sp, (ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp) 57 times, ch 1, sc-vst in ch2 sp, [ (ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp) 58 times, ch 1, sc-vst in ch2 sp ] 3 times, ch 1, join with sl st to beg sc, fasten off AC12. (232 sc, 236 ch, 4 sc-vsts)

Rnd 62: insert hook in ch1 sp to left of sc-vst, draw up AC13, ch 1, puff in same ch1 sp, (ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp) 58 times, ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp, ch 2, puff in same ch1 sp, [ (ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp) 59 times, ch 1, puff in next ch1 sp, ch 2, puff in same ch1 sp ] 3 times, ch 1, join with sl st to beg puff, fasten off AC13. (244 puff, 240 ch, 4 ch2 sps)

Rnd 63: insert hook into ch1 sp to the left of a corner ch2 sp, draw up AC10, sc in same ch1 sp, (ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp) 59 times, ch 1, sc-vst in ch2 sp, [ (ch 1, sc in next ch1 sp) 60 times, ch 1, sc-vst in ch2 sp ] 3 times, ch 1, join with sl st to beg sc, fasten off AC10. (240 sc, 244 ch, 4 sc-vsts)
