Garden Romp Crochet Along 2017 Part 1 - Dearest Debi Patterns

Welcome to myย Garden Romp Crochet Along 2017, this is the first part of the crochet along.

I have decided to join in my crochet along with you, I will be hooking up my project on Ravelry and hope you will too so that I can see your beautiful creations. I can’t wait to see what colours you hook up!

I have worked up both a photo and video tutorial to help you join in my crochet along. The instructions are free to view on my blog and YouTube, if you are looking for a clean copy pdf it can be purchased on Ravelry.

Garden Romp Crochet Along 2017 Part 1 Pattern..

NOTE: After some discussion I’ve found that a few people have turned their work. The entire afghan is worked with the right side facing you. We will be layering and working from the back but always have the right side facing you!
Garden Romp Right and Wrong Side - Dearest Debi Patterns
Starting with MC, ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring, ch 1, 16 sc in ring, join with sl st to beg sc. (16 sc)
Garden Romp Round 1 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 2: ch 6 (counts as beg dc & ch 3), sk next sc, (dc in next sc, ch 3, sk next sc) 7 times, join with sl st to beg dc. (8 dc, 8 ch3 sps)
Garden Romp Round 2 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in same dc as beg ch, 3 dc in ch3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch3 sp, (sc in next dc, 3 dc in next ch3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch3 sp) 7 times, join with sl st to beg sc, fasten off MC. (48 dc, 8 ch3 sps, 8 sc)
Garden Romp Round 3 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 4: from the back, Insert hook into sk sc from rnd 1, draw up AC1, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), dc in same sc as beg dc, dc in same sc (when working last part of dc make sure to work around post of dc from rnd 2), [ 2 dc in next sk sc from rnd 1, dc in same sc (when working last part of dc make sure to work around post of dc from rnd 2) ] 7 times, join with sl st to beg dc. (24 dc)
**Put a stitch marker in AC1 and push it to the back of work, it will be picked back up in Rnd 7.**
Garden Romp Round 4 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 5: for this round only work in BLO of rnd 4, insert hook into st to the left of AC1, draw up AC2, ch 8 (counts as beg tr & ch4), sk 2 dc, (tr in next dc, ch 4, sk 2 dc) 7 times, join with sl st to beg tr. (8 tr, 8 ch 4 sps)

Rnd 6: ch 1, sc in beg tr, 3 dc in ch4 sp, ch3, 3 dc in same ch4 sp, sc in next tr, (3 dc in ch4 sp, ch3, 3 dc in same ch4 sp, sc in next tr) 7 times, join with sl st to beg sc, fasten off AC2. (48 dc, 8 ch3 sps, 8 sc)
Garden Romp Round 6 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 7: (sts for this rnd are worked in the skipped stitches of rnd 4) insert hook back into AC1, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), sc in sc from Rnd 3, dc in same dc as last dc worked, 2 dc in next sk dc, (dc in next sk dc, sc in sc from Rnd 3, dc in same dc as last dc worked, 2 dc in next sk dc) 7 times, join with sl st to beg dc. (40 sts)
**Put a stitch marker in AC1 and push it to the back of work, it will be picked back up in Rnd 10.**
Garden Romp Round 7 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 8: for this round only work in BLO, insert hook into st to the left of AC1, draw up MC, ch 8 (counts as beg dc & ch5), sk next 4 dc, (dc in next sc, ch 5, sk next 4 dc) 7 times, join with sl st to beg dc. (8 dc, 8 ch5 sps)
Garden Romp Round 8 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 9: ch 1, sc in same dc, 3 dc in ch5 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch5 sp, (sc in next dc, 3 dc in ch5 sp, ch3, 3 dc in same ch5 sp) 7 times, join with sl st to beg sc, fasten off MC. (48 dc, 8 ch3 sps, 8 sc)
Garden Romp Round 9 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 10: working in the back, (sts for this rnd are worked in the skipped stitches of rnd 7 insert hook back into AC1, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), dc in same dc, dc in next sk dc, sc in sc from rnd 6, dc in next 2 sk dc, (2 dc in next sk dc, dc in next sk dc, sc in sc from rnd 6, dc in next 2 sk dc) 7 times, join with sl st to beg dc. (48 sts)
Garden Romp Round 10 - Dearest Debi Patterns
Rnd 11: ch 3 (counts as beg dc), dc in next 2 sts, sc in sc from rnd 9, (dc in next 6 sts, sc in sc from rnd 9) 7 times, dc in last 3 sts, join with sl st to beg dc, fasten off AC1. (56 sts)

      60 inches. could easily add all the colours of the rainbow in the last section to make it a king before doing the edging. ๐Ÿ™‚

      I see what people were having problems with round 7, you have to look at the right side of your work at all times. I added a note to the post above with an image.

    Debi, I finished the second video and my edges are … I guess lifting up a bit…not sure how to describe it. But, my work does not lay entirely flat. What do I need to do? I can’t post a pic here.

      Make sure you have the correct counts.

      The last round of flowers worked (Rnd 16-17) may be a little wavy but that should resolve itself as it gets bigger.

      Also did you make sure you didn’t add an extra hdc in the 8 ‘corners of Round 18.. Here’s an example of this error.. http://bit.ly/GRRnd18error
