Easter Egg Mystery Crochet Along 2017
Welcome to my Easter Egg Mystery Crochet Along 2017! I’m super excited to be hosting my 3rd easter egg crochet along. This year I have made a NEW MYSTERY EGG. No one know what it will be, well except a few of my testers.
I’m hoping that lots of people can join this year, I will release the pattern free to view on this blog post below on Friday April 14th around noon EST. It will include photos to help and a video tutorial I will post on my YouTube channel.

Easter Egg Mystery Crochet Along 2017 Pattern Notes..
COMPETENT

Yarn: Yarn scraps #4 Worsted Weight. I used Red Heart Super Saver. Listed below are recommend colours including some of the colours I used.
- MC – Monet/Favourite Easter colour
- AC1 – Monet/Alternate Easter Colour
- AC2 – Grape Fizz or Candy Print
- AC3 – Spring Green
Hook: US G6/4.00mm
Size: One Size
Supplies: A handful of stuffing or yarn scraps for stuffing.
A plastic grocery bag works and offers a crinkle sound.
Special Stitches:
- sc-dec – insert hook in next st, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook into next st, yo, draw you a loop, yo, draw through all loops on hook.
- 4-dc-cl – dc cluster – yo, insert hook into st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook into same st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yo, draw through all 5 loops on hook.
- tr-cl – yo 2 times, insert hook into st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook into next st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, draw through 3 loops on hook, yo, draw through last 2 loops on hook.
- puff – insert hook in ch3 sp to right of dc-cl, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook between 1st and 2nd cluster, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook between 2nd and 3rd cluster, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook between 3rd and 4th cluster, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook in next ch3 sp, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through all 6 loops on hook.
Notes: Do not join unless otherwise specified, pattern is worked in the round, no turning. Use a stitch marker in beg st of each rnd so not lose your place. Fasten off or carry up yarn when specified.

Easter Egg Mystery Crochet Along 2017 Pattern..
Rnd 1: starting MC and a magic ring work 6 sc in ring, tighten ring, do not join. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around 6 times drawing up AC1 in last st. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 2 times, sc in next 6 sc, sc in beg st drawing up MC. (21 sc)
Rnd 5: for this rnd make sure to work the beg sc in the same st as the last st from previous rnd, (sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. (24 sc)
Rnd 6: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 2 times, sc in next 4 sc. (27 sc)
Rnd 7: (sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. (30 sc)
Rnd 8: sc in each sc around, sl st in beg sc. (30 sc)
**Put a stitch marker in MC for it to be picked back up in Rnd 10. Make sure to bring MC to front of work before working Rnd 9.**
Rnd 9: With AC2, in 2nd sc to left of MC work a standing sc with an extra loop on hook, (yo, insert hook into same st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yo, draw through all 5 loops on hook (1st 4-dc-cl made), ch 3, sk next 2 sc, *4-dc-cl in next sc, ch 3, sk next 2 sc, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg dc-cl, fasten off AC2. (10 dc-cl, 10 ch3 sps)
Rnd 10: insert hook back into MC working sts in rnd 8 only, push rnd 9 to the back out of the way unless otherwise specified, ch 1, yo, insert hook into next sc, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, ch 1 (1st tr-cl made), ch 1, sc in next ch3 sp from rnd 9, *tr-cl in next 2 sk sc, ch 1, sc in next ch3 sp from rnd 9, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg tr-cl. (10 tr-cl, 10 sc, 10 ch)
**Put a stitch marker in MC for it to be picked back up in Rnd 12. Make sure to bring MC to front of work before working Rnd 11.**
Rnd 11: work stitches in rnd 9 only, make sure to push rnd 10 to the back, insert hook into ch3 sp to right of dc-cl, with AC3, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook between 1st and 2nd cluster, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook between 2nd and 3rd cluster, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook between 3rd and 4th cluster, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook in next ch3 sp, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook (1st puff made), ch 3, *puff in next dc cluster, ch 3, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg puff, fasten off AC3. (10 puffs, 10 ch3 sps)
Rnd 12: work in stitches from rnd 10 pushing ch3 from rnd 11 to the back, insert hook back into MC, ch 1, sc in same tr-cl, (3 sc in next tr-cl) 9 times, 2 sc in next tr-cl (will have beginning sc), do not join. (30 sc) Note: Image shows 3 hdc, pattern calls for 3 sc. Image used to show placement of stitches.
Rnd 13 & 14: sc in each st around (30 sc)
Rnd 15: (sc in next 8 sc, sc-dec) 3 times. (27 sc)
Rnd 16: (sc in next 7 sc, sc-dec) 3 times drawing up AC1 in last st. (24 sc)
Rnd 17: sc in next 2 sc, sc-dec, (sc in next 6 sc, sc-dec) 2 times, sc in last 4 sc drawing up MC in last st. (21 sc)
Rnd 18: (sc in next 5 sc, sc-dec) around 3 times. (18 sc)
Note: stuff now or after next rnd.
Rnd 19: (sc in next sc, sc-dec). (12 sc)
Rnd 20: sc-dec around, fasten off, weave in ends (Tail can be used to sew the hole shut). (6 sc)
