Welcome to my Girly Afghan CAL Mandala Part 1. Today we will start on the Mandala of our Girly Afghan.

Getting started..

Using MC, start with a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), work 15 dc in ring, tighten ring, drawing up AC1 yarn join with sl st to beg dc, fasten off MC. (16 dc)

Rnd 2: ch 1, sm-puff in same st, ch 1, sm-puff in same stitch (first puff-v-st created), (ch 2, sk 1 dc, puff-v-st in next dc) 7 times, ch 2, sk 1 dc, join with sl st to beg puff, fasten off AC1. (8 puff-v-sts, 8 ch)

Rnd 3: Insert your hook into one of the v-sts, draw up AC2 yarn, ch 2, pop-st in same v-st, (ch 5, pop-st in next v-st) 7 times, ch 5, drawing up MC yarn join with a sl st to 2nd ch of beg ch2, fasten off AC2. (8 pop-sts, 8 ch5)

Rnd 4: ch 1, (sc in center of pop-st, sc into ch5 sp, 3 dc from the front into ch2 sp from prev rnd, sc in same ch5 sp) 8 times, join with sl st to beg sc. (48 sts)

Rnd 5: sl st in next 2 sts, (sc in next st, sk 2 sts, shell in next st, sk 2 sts) 8 times, drawing up AC3 yarn join with sl st to beg sc. (8 sc, 8 shells, total of 48 sts)
