Crochet Unforgettable Messy Bun Ponytail Hat

December 15, 2016 By: DearestDebi15 Comments

Your favorite brands under one roof: Patons, Bernat, Caron, Lily Sugar‘n Cream, Phentex, and now Red Heart! New and innovative yarn is added all the time.

Crochet Unforgettable Messy Bun Ponytail Hat

Yes! Another Crochet Unforgettable Messy Bun Ponytail Hat! I usually don’t follow trends but a friend asked me if I could hook up a messy bun hat and I could use the money for the holidays. She was looking for purples. I had some Red Heart Unforgettable in the colour petunia which was perfect for what she wanted.

This is a super quick and easy pattern to hook up. You will beed half a ball of the recommended yarn and an elastic that’s about 1.75 inches before stretched. I grab them by the pack at my local dollar store.

I know this is a silly question, but what does BLO mean in you bun hat pattern?

I made this hat and it is so cute! I made it slightly smaller to fit my head tighter by only crocheting 56 instead of 60 sc rows for the band, and also by using a slightly smaller hook. Thanks for sharing this free pattern!

Confused on Round 74 – it says DC in next 7 HDC – but the previous row was the last of the repeats and it was just DCs, not HDCs.

If you need to make it bigger, how many stitches would you add?

You have to add more rows until desired length, for each row you add you will have to add an extra stitch count when working along the edge of your rows.

finding maybe a #3 light or dk yarn would work since I find unforgettable isn’t really a #4. I have used this yarn successfully in replacement of unforgettable.. http://dearestdebi.yarnshopping.com/magic-baby-yarn
