Crochet Dress – Little Miss Ruffles
This crochet dress was based off my Little Miss Lady Jane dress, I got the idea to add sashay ruffles to it instead of yarn ruffles.
This crochet dress would be super cute if you were to make a matching hat to go with it. There is a free beanie pattern HERE or you can add my lady bella bonnet pattern to match, for the bonnet pattern click HERE

Adding Ruffles..
If you would like a photo tutorial of how to add sashay ruffles there is one available on my ruffle skirt, to get to the tutorial click HERE.
**Using a US J10/6.00mm hook..
To start insert your hook from bottom of the skirt towards the topΒ into one of the ch1 spaces created by row 31 (sc, ch1 row) , then take your sashay yarn and fold over the end about 3 working spaces long.
Insert your hook into the first working space threw both layers as shown below then draw up a loop, insert hook into the 3rd working space of your sashay yarn.
Draw up a loop, this is your first sl st.
Insert your hook into your next ch1 sp, insert hook into 3rd working space and draw up a loop, this is your second sl st.
Continue working in each ch1 sp around and working in the 3rd working space of your sashay yarn.
When you’ve finished the last sl st of the rnd, insert your hook under the post of the next dc, insert hook into 3rd working space of your sashay yarn and draw up a loop, this will create a sl st around the dc post.
Now you can work in the ch1 spaces of the next row. Continue working until you finish the length of the dress.
To finish off you will need some sewing thread and needle, weave needle along the unfinished edge of the sashay end and tie a knot attaching it into your dress, you can do this at the beginning of the sashay yarn to hide the unfinished edge.
Neck trim..
**Using a US H8/5.00mm hook..
**For the V button enclosure I did my stitches over both beginning tails to hide them away.***
Starting with the V button enclosure. Join in yarn at beg of row 1 by drawing up a loop, ch 1, sc in same st, sc 8 times evenly down the first side, scdec in next st and the next st on the other side, sc 8 times evenly up the other side, now working along the neck line, 3 Hdc in corner, (ss in next st, 3hdc in next st) around finishing with 3 Hdc in beg corner, ch 6 (add or dec # of chβs depending on the size of your button.), join with ss to first sc. Fasten off and weave in end.
Arm trim..
**Using a US H8/5.00mm hook..
Join in at the armpit in the center of the cl st, ch 3, 4 dc in same st as beg ch3, (sk 1 st, sc in next st, sk 1 st, 5 dc in next st) around, join with a ss to 3rd ch of beg ch. do the same for the other arm.
Rosette..
To complete your crochet dress you could add a rosette to the back side. For the rosette pattern click HERE

hello. love the ruffle skirt and now the dress. You are very talented! I crocheted a lot until ms took most of my eyesight and constantly drop “hooks”. I wish I could crochet for my granddaughters! Cant wait to see your next item!
Thank you!
I just love this and wish my daughter was still little enough for this!
I would love it if you would share this at my link party – In and Out of the Kitchen. It is live now and is for crafts, recipes, DIY and Etsy shops.
I hope to see you there!

EEK! This is so cute! The ruffles at the bottom are gorg. I love it! Thanks for sharing at Hookin On Hump Day!
Thanks Sara π
You have one of the cutest models I have ever seen wearing a crocheted or knitted item. She really looks at home in it. I’d hire her out if i were you. π
Thank you!
I love this dress! so cute!
wondering how to make it smaller though…
Originally the dress was a 1-3 size when I made the first version of it, for the 1-3 year sizing use the same hooks as listed for the yarn ruffles dress pattern HERE
Trying to work through this pattern and make it smaller (12mo) but I’m a little confused, it says only turn when it says to, but what about the first few rows? Should they be worked in a round? Please email me with some help, thanks!
The first 4 rows you turn, I have added it to the pattern. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. π
Thanks so much! I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to make it work otherwise
I was wondering if I was going to make this for my 7 yr old daughter could you help me with how to make it bigger? Do I increase by 6
This is the only sizing I have. You could maybe try to use a larger hook to get a bigger sizing. As for changing counts I’m not sure what would work, I’d have to rework the entire piece to know if it was right or not.
i cannot find instructions for the ch up 2 on the resource page. please help!
Here’s the link.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoxcZVmmoDI it was on there but was listed as ‘avoid turning gap’ so I added this link as well. Thanks for letting me know.
Wow – what a pattern! Good work! And I like the variation of ideas – all so cute! π
Thank you π
Thank you so much for the adorable dress pattern. I am finishing up the skirt, but have been sidetracked for a couple of weeks now, but can’t wait to start this one once I get on track again. Summer vaca and graduations you know.
This is so adorable!! Love it for my granddaughter. Thank you so much!!
gramzie
I love this dress. I was hoping u can tell me how to make it for a girl size 5-6? I also want to add a short sleeve. Your help will be much appreciative…
Free Patterns are as is. To make other sizing I would have to rework the entire pattern.
so perfect for my little girl, just what I have been looking for
I just finished the 2nd dress, made them for a friend who has two little girls. Changed the colors around a bit, they are so cute. I made little matching crocheted hats, simply adorable!!!!
