Crochet Cross Stitch Toddler Beanie
I had been staring at this yarn for almost 2 days and had no ideas what to do with it..
I was browsing through some of my photos and I came across one of the first 10 crochet patterns I had made. One of them was a pattern from Naztazia. I worked up her crochet hook case (as shown below) and it gave me the idea to use a stitch that was used for the case cover. A crochet cross stitch.
I decided I wanted to attempt a beanie with the cross stitch. Shown below on the chart is how to do a hdc cross, you need to skip one st, hdc in next, your next hdc will be worked in the skipped st.

Yarn:
Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn – Colour Giggle, it took just a little over half a ball of yarn to make this hat.
Special Stitches:
- hdc cross stitch – skip 1 st, hdc in next, hdc in skipped st
Gauge: 4 cross stitches = 2″ wide
Notes:
Beg ch 2 counts as first hdc.
