A hat for him..
My son had this hat when he was younger and I’ve considered a few times to try to re-create it in crochet. I had not started on this hat because I was waiting to find the right stitching to use.
Today (as I’m writing this it’s December 7th) I came across this tutorial by the crochet geek for this stitch called the Boucan Pattern Stitch. It looks perfect to use for the hat!
I am wearing the hat because the person getting this hat doesn’t know yet, so here is me wearing the hat.
I think I’d like one for myself now!

Notes:
Beg ch3 counts as a dc. *Join to 3rd ch of beg ch3. *do not turn unless otherwise specified.
I tried the traditional increasing but ended up with lines that were not exactly straight as shown below..
Rnd 11: Join in a dc from 2 rnds previous (as shown below) by drawing up a loop.
Adding a brim..
Using the next alt colour, count off 21 sts at the front, use the fpdc stitches as a guide (they should line up the same as a baseball cap)

Hi, love this hat, and made it this week. I wanted it all one color though, so that’s what I did. I took a picture, but not sure how to post it here. I have a question. I haven’t crocheted in years, but when I got to Rnd 12-17, I think it should say ‘rep rnd 11’, and not ‘rep rnd 10’. Am I correct? That’s what I ended up doing. Thanx so much for sharing this pattern…just what I was looking for!
