With Love Flower Garden Baby

With Love Flower Garden Baby.. Dolly got a makeover! I hooked up a Waffle Stitch Flower Garden Baby Set using Red Heart With Love Metallic yarn.

It was recently brought to my attention that Red Heart Shimmer has been discontinued so it was suggested I could try With Love Metallic as a replacement. I have never used either of these yarns so I choose With Love Metallic.

When I got this yarn I noticed right away that it is a lot thicker worsted weight #4 yarn than the shimmer was. This means I will have to gauge my hook size down. I hooked up a pair of leggings first using a US H8/5.00mm hook and my work came off gauge. I was getting 6 stitches per 2 inches instead of 7.

I reworked the sweater then the hat both using a US 7/4.50mm hook. I was able to get the same gauge width wise but not by height. The pattern is written that this will not be an issue since measurements are used instead of exact row count.

Gauge: 7 sts x 5 rows = 2 inches
