Faux Fur Ribbed Crochet Hood

Long ago I got a ball of Red Heart Unforgettable colour Candied. I started working on a ribbed hood but once it was done I put it on my styrofoam head and it was the wrong size! I tried to frog my work but if you’ve ever worked with Red Heart Unforgettable you know that it’s impossible to frog this yarn because the fibers fuze together. In the process of trying to frog it to adjust the size I ended up ruining the piece.

I’ve had the written pattern for my original hood for some time but never had an interest in revising it until the other day I was looking at my WIP (work in progress) pile and none of it was appealing enough to work on so I decided to try out the pattern with some Red Heart Soft Touch Yarn. I added extra increases and reworked the hood pattern then got this harebrained idea to add fur to the hood, it turned out the perfect adult size! I edited up my original piece and made a child size pattern which has been tested.

I’ve had some of this Cleckheaton Faux Fur a friend gave me that she no longer wanted. It’s super soft and worked out perfect. I checked out Cleckheatons site and I don’t see the faux fur listed. There is currently a mohair blend that might work or check out the Smooth Fur or the Supersoft Fur from my Yarn Shop.
