Crochet Puff Ball Beanie with Brim

November 29, 2013 By: DearestDebi6 Comments

Your favorite brands under one roof: Patons, Bernat, Caron, Lily Sugar‘n Cream, Phentex, and now Red Heart! New and innovative yarn is added all the time.

Crochet Puff Ball Beanie

Crochet Puff Ball Beanies all started because I got a requested for a Meat Wad hat.. MEAT WAD hat you ask? Meat Wad is a character from an adult tele show called Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I bought a brown ball of yarn thinking meat would be brown but Meat Wad is more a redish brown as he’s not fully cooked apparently. I have what we call a well done Meat Wad. haha

I have been sitting on the idea for a few months as I had no idea what stitch I wanted to use to make Meat Wad as a hat. I knew I wanted something 3D like a puff stitch. When I was looking for for stitches to use for my fat bottom bag I found a tutorial by Ambassador Crochet about what she calls the Ball Stitch. It’s LIKE a puff stitch but has a slight difference! It’s the same stitch I used for my Crochet Puff Flower Stitch tutorial. After making the bag I got the idea to use the same stitch pattern for a Meat Wad Hat.

There is no tutorial for Meat Wad. I just looked at a picture of him and sewed him on to my Crochet Puff Ball Beanie hat by hand with some black and white worsted weight yarn.

This hat is available in 4 sizes and has a slouch style. You do not have to make your hat a Meat Wad, you can make a Crochet Puff Ball Beanie with Brim.
