3D Sun Flower Hat Newborn
I recently worked up the Autumn Sky Cloche and when I was finished I got the idea to turn my 3D flower beanie into a sun hat. I have already turned the toddler 3D beanie into a sun hat using the flower lattice, of course I always have to do things the hard way first!
I have tried a few times to work a sun hat brim for hats and have not always been pleased with the results. I have finally figured out how to add a nice sun brim without it becoming wavy and really floppy. I might have to try this new way on the cotton sun hat I made over the summer that never got published because I just wasn’t happy with the brim.
This newborn sun hat is the 11th pattern in my 3D Collection, it all started with a flower.

Yarn: #2 Yarn pictured is Ice Yarns – Baby Batik (Baby Batik yarn is similar to Bernat Softee Baby Yarn)
Hook:
- US G6/4.00mm
- US G6/4.25mm
Size: Newborn 0 – 3 Months (Get the Toddler size HERE)
Special Stitches:
- v-st – (dc, ch 3, dc) in same space.
Gauge: 2 v-sts = 2″
