Miss Nancy Not Knit Hat
As soon as I saw Nancy Hat yarn I had to get some. There was a picture of a simple knit hat but nothing crochet using this new yarn. I came up with the idea to make a Miss Nancy Not Knit Hat when I came across a tutorial for the waistcoat stitch by Oombawka Design Crochet, it looks knit but it’s really crochet!

To work this pattern you would be working single crochet but where you work the new stitches is not the same as a regular single crochet stitch. Make sure to check out the tutorial that Oombawka Design Crochet has put together to explain how to work the waistcoat stitch.

Yarn: 1 hank of Ice Yarns – Nancy Hat – #5 Bulky (3.53 oz/185 yds)
Hook: US K10.5/6.50mm
Size: Adult 21-22”
Special Stitches:
Waistcoat Stitch – Single Crochet worked the post of the stitch rather than in the front and back loops. Check out the video tutorial below..
Gauge: 6 sc = 2 inches.
Notes:
- Nancy Hat yarn comes in a hank, it’s advised to work hank into a skein. Pom Pom is not attached to yarn and will be sewn on to the hat when the hat is finished.
- Do not start working with the fuzzy bulky yarn.
- Do not join rnds unless otherwise specified. Worked in continuous rnds.
- You will need more than 1 hank if you plan on making a slouch version of this hat.
