Over the weekend I worked up this 5 inch Crochet Rosie Posy Flower Square. I turned the square into a twelve inch afghan block design but my original design worked up wavy so I had to edit the larger block from this original square design.This square would look so pretty with a variegated yarn for the flowers or even colour changing flowers. MC – Aran Fleck, AC1 – Green, AC2 – Petal Pink (Colours are pictured above)

Hook: US I9/5.50mm

Size: 5″ square

Gauge: 3 stitches = 1 inch wide

With MC, Ch 4, join with sl st to beg ch to form a ring.

Rnd 2: ch 3 (counts as beg dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times, join with sl st to beg dc. (12 dc, 8 ch)

**Put a stitch marker in MC, make sure to bring yarn to FRONT of work so that it can be picked up again in rnd 5.**

Rnd 3: insert hook into dc to the left of MC (to the right for lefties), draw up AC1, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), ch 1, dc in same dc, dc in ch2 sp, ch 2, dc in same ch2 sp, (sk next dc, v-st in next dc, dc in ch2 sp, ch 2, dc in same ch2 sp) 3 times, before joining make sure to bring MC to front of work, join with sl st to beg dc, fasten off AC1. (16 dc, 12 ch)

Rnd 4: insert hook into beg v-st, draw up AC2, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), 3 dc in same v-st, 5 dc in ch2 sp, (4 dc in v-st, 5 dc in ch2 sp) 3 times, join with sl st to beg dc, fasten off AC2.  (36 dc)

Rnd 5: insert hook back into MC, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), from the back of work dc in same dc from rnd 2 as beg dc (as shown below), ch 3, dc in next sk dc from rnd 2 (as shown above), from the back of work dc in same dc from rnd 2 as last dc worked, ch 5, (dc in next sk dc from rnd 2, from the back of work dc in same dc from rnd 2 as last dc worked, ch 3, dc in next sk dc from rnd 2, from the back of work dc in same dc from rnd 2 as last dc worked, ch 5) 3 times, join with sl st to beg dc making sure to work join in sp between dc shells from rnd 4. (16 dc, 32 ch)

Rnd 6: ch 3 (counts as beg dc), dc in next dc, 2 dc in ch3 sp, dc in next dc making sure to work in ch1 sp from rnd 4, dc in next dc, 3 dc in ch5 sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch5 sp, (dc in next dc making sure to work in ch1 sp from rnd 4, dc in next dc, 2 dc in ch3 sp, dc in next dc making sure to work in ch1 sp from rnd 4, dc in next dc, 3 dc in ch5 sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch5 sp) 3 times, join with sl st to beg dc, fasten off, weave in ends.
