Blooming Garden Afghan Block 2.0
After making the Blooming Garden Afghan Block I realized that I should have just used my Butterfly Flower Garden Square finishing it off with my window flowers This is the Blooming Garden Afghan Block 2.0. Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver
Hook: US I9/5.50mm
Size: 12 inch block.
Special Stitches:
- cl-st – yo, insert hook into st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook into same st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) 2 times, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook.
- hdc-vst – (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in same st.
- sc-vst – (sc, ch 1, sc) in same st.
- shell – 4 hdc in same st
- yo – yarn over
Gauge: 3 sts = 1 inch
Starting with MC and a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), dc in ring 11 times, tighten ring, join with sl st to beg dc, fasten off. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: sts this rnd will be worked in between the dc stitches, draw up AC1, ch 1, cl-st in same space, ch 2, * cl-st in next sp, ch 2, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg ch 1, fasten off AC1. (12 cl-sts, 24 ch)
Rnd 3: insert hook into ch2 sp from rnd 2, draw up MC, ch 3 (counts as beg dc), 3 dc in next ch2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch2 sp, *3 dc in next 2 ch2 sps, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch2 sp, rep from * 2 more times, 2 dc in next ch2 sp (same ch2 sp as beg dc), join with sl st to beg dc. (56 sts)
**Put a stitch marker in your MC, make sure to bring yarn to front of work so that it can be picked up again in rnd 5.**
Rnd 4: insert hook in 2nd dc to the left of MC (to the right for lefties), draw up AC2, ch1, cl-st in same st, ch 2, sk 1 dc, cl-st in next dc, ch 5, sk next 2 dc, sk ch 2 sp, sk next dc, *cl-st in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, cl-st in next dc, ch 3, sk 3 dc, cl-st in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, cl-st in next dc, ch 5, sk next 2 dc, sk ch 2 sp, sk next dc, rep from * 2 more times, cl-st in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, cl-st in next dc, ch 3, sk 3 dc, join with sl st to beg cl-st. **Insert hook back into MC, join with a sl st to beg dc of rnd 10 making sure to work sl st under the ch1 sp from rnd 11**
